I feel as if I'...Aneeqah, we are the same. duh.
I feel as if I'm more character-centered rather than plot-centered, which I know is really important to you, so that probably explains the difference in enjoyment since I know we both were extremely pumped to read it haha.
I completely agree with your statement on the underdevelopment of multiple points of the novel.
Thanks! <3Casshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10364927467329965561noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8859461259847042565.post-45161279206978952302015-07-04T21:46:41.064-07:002015-07-04T21:46:41.064-07:00Are we the same person?!? I totally felt the same ...Are we the same person?!? I totally felt the same way about this book, but unfortunately I liked it a little less than you did, it seems! I adored both Shazi and Khalid. Shazi was definitely a kick-butt YA heroine, but her perspective was written in a unique manner that changed things up for me. I somehow fell in love with Khalid too. He had a lot on his plate, but as Shazi started unraveling things about him, I couldn't help but fall for him too. I agree that the romance was pretty plain, haha. Definitely a trope. ;)

I had the SAME issues with the magic!! Like, it was introduced, but it felt like a crutch. It wasn't ever fully developed, and barely mentioned except when the author needed it, you know? Based off of some things in the story, though, I'm thinking that it'll (hopefully) be developed later in the series. The plot was also pretty slow at some points, which is why it took me such a long time to read this book, ugh. I also felt like the world-building was suuuper lacking. There were some things in this book that were just too underdeveloped, it seems.

Lovely, lovely review, Cass girl! Seems like you've read my mind with this book. :D Even though you felt it was over-hyped, I'm glad you still enjoyed it! <33Aneeqahhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13352395407424623520noreply@blogger.com
